Tampon Tribe To Launch Thursday
Setting New Standards in Organic Tampon Subscription Services
Press Release – SANTA MONICA, Calif. (September 19, 2016). The U.S.’ first customizable certified-organic cotton and plastic-free tampon monthly subscription service, Tampon Tribe, will hit the market Thursday, September 22, with an Indiegogo campaign that sees prices cut to $6 a month, including delivery.
Responding to their own search for convenient and affordable organic cotton tampons that are kind to the earth as well as their bodies, founders Jennifer Eden and Gaby Alves have created much more than an online subscription business. Their Tribe is an inclusive ecosphere with social impact at its core, and a goal to change the way society approaches periods, women’s heath, and the environment.
“Our mission is to provide easy access to affordable organic tampons and pads to all women,” Eden said. “We believe that everyone should be able to choose what they put in their bodies.”
“I also constantly, I mean constantly, run out of tampons each month,” Eden explained. “So I decided to combine my needs, wants, hopes for the environment and the planet, with the convenience of a home-delivered organic cotton tampon subscription service.”
“Everything about Tampon Tribe is focused on sustainability,” she added. “Our applicators are a smooth cardboard and our packaging is made from recycled materials – no plastic. Period.”
Both Eden and Alves said that they couldn’t believe the scarcity of organic feminine hygiene on the market, and the excessive use of plastics that exists in the few organic options that are available.
“The average women throws 7,300 plastic applicators in the trash in their lifetime,” Alves said. “Multiply that by at least 64 million women in the U.S. alone who get their period, that’s tons and tons of trash going into our landfills and water-ways, that could easily be avoided.”
Tampon Tribe’s service begins with a first month delivery of organic cotton tampons that arrive in a cute burlap bag, designed to fit neatly inside a bathroom cabinet, or sit proudly on the shelf. Subsequent monthly “refill” packs arrive in recycled paper bags in an effort to cut environmental impact at every corner.
Each month’s delivery is customizable online, to match with your flow, with a mix of regular, super, and super-plus available. Tampon Tribe also offers organic cotton pantiliners and overnight pads, as well as thin and regular pads that are organic cotton, and toxin and chemical free.
Charity partners are voted on by the Tribe, with events and social interaction part of the ethos of the company.
“Together we can make the world a better place,” Eden said. “We are creating jobs for people who need a second or third chance in life too, employing men and women through retraining programs so that they can change their lives and their kids’ lives for the better.”
