Hi Devin, What great tips! I am toying with ideas to buy an EV, but am waiting for one that can get us to Chicago in 2 days. My suspicion is there are few EVs with the range required to reach Chicago in that time. I like being an early adopter - my first new car was a Mazda RX-3 with a rotary engine. Later traded it in on a Mazda RX-4. In those cars, range was not a problem. I also do not like to drive slowly, like someone else I know...Thank you for a great article!
I think there are three cars you'd love. The Tesla Model S has a model that will run 400 miles per charge and will charge about 4 times faster than mine. The Lucid Air and the Mercedes EQS are all offering that sort of range and fast charging capability. If you can charge 200 miles in 20-30 minutes and drive 80 MPH, you can reach Chicago in two days. :)
Thanks for all your fantastic tips. Some of these were new to me even after owning an EV for 18 months. By using subscriber solar through RMP, our cost/kWH is .11, so that translates to .05/mile in average city driving. Having the Tesla charging available to nonTeslas will increase range options.
What a great point. Your cost is incredibly cheap--even after the upcharge--and you're using renewable energy! The charger networks are growing faster than the EV population so charging is getting easier and easier!

These tips are fantastic.. Devin does get great mileage because he likes to drive slow .:)
So true! I do love passing the trucks going up big hills. The EV loves it!
