Today at noon ET/9:00 a.m. PT, I’ll be presenting a new SuperCrowdHour on what happens after a crowdfunding campaign launches—how to keep the momentum going through the long middle of a raise and turn interested supporters into investors. Watch the webinar live in the player at the top of this post.
Launching a Regulation Crowdfunding campaign is not the finish line. It’s the starting gun. A raise can stay open for a year or more, and the enthusiasm that peaks on launch day fades unless you give people a reason to act now rather than someday. The launch has novelty on its side. The close has a real deadline. Everything in between is where campaigns are won or lost—and it’s where most founders run out of gas.
In today’s SuperCrowdHour, I focus on how to keep the fire burning.
First is personal outreach. Most Americans have never made a crowdfunding investment, so when you ask someone to invest, you’re asking them to step into the unknown. That makes you an educator and a guide, not just a salesperson. I’ll share my favorite tactic for lowering the ask—replacing “click here to invest” with “schedule a meeting”—along with how to decide which investors deserve an hour of your time and which are better served in a group.
Second is social proof, done right. People follow people, and nothing reassures a hesitant investor like seeing others act. But there’s a rule here that trips up a lot of founders: the amount you’ve raised is, in the view of at least some securities attorneys, a deal term that belongs only on your offering page at the funding portal. I’ll show you how to characterize momentum without the numbers—and why sending people to the page to “see where we stand” works better anyway.
Third is mid-raise incentives. Nearly every campaign hits a lull after the initial excitement fades. The companies that push through it don’t wait for the close to create urgency; they plan dozens of short-term incentives across the whole raise—bonus windows, milestone rewards, tiers for larger investors, perks for everyone—each with its own deadline. I’ll walk through how to design that calendar, how to keep it compliant, and how to avoid training your investors to wait for the next bonus.
We’ll also cover the close itself, including a topic many founders don’t know to ask about: rolling closes, which can let you put capital to work while the campaign is still running. And I’ll show how AI tools—ChatGPT for drafting, and the new generation of agents that can actually do work on your behalf—can carry the routine so you’re free for the conversations that close investments.
At the end, I’ll answer the questions I hear most from founders in the middle of a raise: “It’s been three weeks, and it’s crickets—what do I do?” “Can I tell my list we’ve hit 60% of our goal?” “Can I spend any of the money before the campaign closes?”
If you’re raising capital now, or planning to, this hour is for you. If you invest in these offerings, you’ll come away knowing how to read a campaign’s momentum—and what a well-run raise looks like from the inside.
Of course, every offering is different, and nothing in the webinar is legal advice; work with your funding portal and counsel on the specifics of yours. But if you’ve ever wondered how to keep a campaign alive for the long haul, watch the SuperCrowdHour in the player above at noon ET/9:00 a.m. PT.
You can also register for free here and watch live on SuperCrowd.tv, the e360tv Network, or on Roku and Amazon Fire TV by searching for the SuperCrowd channel.
I’ll show you how the pieces fit together—and why the long middle of a raise is where it’s won.
