What the holy heck is going on with the SuperCrowd? I’m so glad you asked! It is hard for me to keep track of it so you may be lost and confused, too.
Broadly speaking, we’ve merged all of the operations of Superpowers for Good and The Super Crowd, Inc., a public benefit corporation, together. This isn’t so much about streamlining as it is about maximizing. There is much more happening under the new umbrella. This post will provide a recap.
We have so much happening that I invite you to invest a few minutes to find out. We’re holding in-person and virtual events. We’re holding live pitches on television. We’re publishing a book that is a guide to impact investing for ordinary people. So keep reading!
SuperCrowdBaltimore
March 21, 2024, 8:30 to 5:00 PM at the B&O Railroad Museum
SuperCrowdBaltimore is proving to be an extraordinary event. The community has rallied to organize fabulous local speakers from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce, the Baltimore Development Corporation, Shird Productions, Community Wealth Builders, the Equity Endowment and Shift the Prism. These organizations are sending their top people to present at the event!
In addition, we’ve got some of the world’s foremost experts on regulated investment crowdfunding coming to town to speak. This includes folks like Jenny Kassan, who helped drive the passage of the enabling legislation for crowdfunding. Brian Christie, the president of the Crowdfunding Professional Association, will be speaking. Scott McIntyre, who has served as the Chair of the CfPA for nearly a decade, will too. Sara Hanks, arguably the leading expert on legal compliance for crowdfunding, will be conducting a session for entrepreneurs. Bill Huston of Crowd-Max, who also serves on the CfPA Board, will be there. Lyndsae’ Peele from Kiva will be there, too.
We’ll also have a host of entrepreneurs who have raised or who are raising capital via crowdfunding there to speak. These include Lynn Heller of the Climate Access Fund, Shubber Ali of Garden for Wildlife, Alfred Rotimi of Joyhound Beer Company, and Irena Stein of Alma Cocina Latina. Everyone will learn more about how to raise from the crowd and simultaneously have an opportunity to invest on the spot!
If you live anywhere near the Baltimore area, change your plans to join us next week. This is genuinely a can’t-miss event. You can still get tickets for under $100 when you use the code SUPERCROWD.
SuperCrowd24
April 17-18, 2024 - Virtual
This two-day virtual event will feature nearly 100 people on the program, with inspiring keynote speeches and practical workshops to help you implement what you’re inspired to do.
You will leave better equipped to invest profitably for impact via crowdfunding. You will know better how to make money as an investor focusing on solving problems, helping others and doing good. Making money pairs nicely with impact. We’ll show you how. If you’d like to make more money doing good, this event is for you.
You will learn how to raise capital from the crowd. We’ll focus on helping diverse founders—including women—learn the tricks of the trade, putting them on more equal footing. We’ll share insights for social entrepreneurs and community builders. Small business owners will learn how to raise capital more affordably. If you are an entrepreneur who wants to understand every path to capitalization, you can’t miss SuperCrowd24.
Let’s be clear, too, that crowdfunding is not just a tool for raising small amounts of capital. It is that. Most campaigns raise under $250,000—still a lot for a small business. However, regulated investment crowdfunding allows for raising up to $75 million. There will be people on the program who have done that and will share some of their secrets to help you do it, too.
The event will also feature live pitch sessions, during which entrepreneurs will pitch, and experts will quiz them. You’ll even get the chance to ask questions. Every company pitching will have a live crowdfund offering you can join on the spot.
There will be virtual trade show sessions and a VIP networking session you won’t want to miss. Register today for half-price. Save 50 percent with the discount code SUPERCROWD.

How to Make Money with Impact Crowdfunding
Your Guide to Investing Profitably to Support Diverse Founders, Social Entrepreneurs and Community Builders
Building on decades of financial experience, I’ve written a new book, How to Make Money with Impact Crowdfunding, Your Guide to Investing Profitably to Support Diverse Founders, Social Entrepreneurs and Community Builders.
The thesis of this book is that you can make money while you make a difference. You don’t need to limit your impact to your philanthropic budget. By moving some of your income and assets to impact investing with an eye to matching the returns you get elsewhere, you sacrifice nothing but have tremendous impact potential.
I wrote the book hoping to expand the pool of active impact crowdfund investors. Most people would like to do good with their money but simply don’t know how. Many even know that it is possible!
You can help me spread the word by pre-ordering your copy. We’re running a crowdfunding campaign to launch the book via the nonprofit crowdfunding portal, The Local Crowd.
You can help us build the movement by buying a ten-pack or other packages to help us spread the word!
