University Of Denver Senior Launches Environmental Crowdfunding Platform

Evan Swaak, an environmental science senior at the University of Denver, launches earthcrowdfunder.com in an effort to benefit the environment.

“Earthcrowdfunder.com is basically a crowdfunding website for environmental and sustainable projects,” Swaak says. “I’m building on the trend for private citizens and organizations to raise funds via crowdfunding, and applying it to saving our planet.”

Users can both list their own projects as well as donate to others featured on the website, which will also include a carbon footprint calculator. The environmental or sustainable projects Earthcrowdfunder will feature include solar panel installations, school gardens, animal and land conservation efforts, and much more. Any project that benefits the planet may be funded via earthcrowdfunder.com.

“Earthcrowdfunder also gives environmental non-profits a new way to raise money,” says Swaak. “Rather than working via more traditional fundraising methods, Earthcrowdfunder opens doors to new donors and allows organizations to keep up in the 21st century.”

Earthcrowdfunder is not only for non-profits. Anyone who wants to raise money for an environmental or sustainable project can launch a project on earthcrowdfunder.com.
