The Good Cards Gains Momentum with Kickstarter Completion and Plans Leadership Programs in 50 US High Schools and Middle Schools
Teachers across the US are working with Better World International to develop courses and projects using The Good Cards for happiness-based campaigns
Press Release – PALO ALTO, CA (June 15, 2018) – The Good Cards, the digital platform that promotes kindness through an app designed for gaming fun, announces the successful fulfillment of its Kickstarter program, and the significant expansion of its US Schools’ program. Funds from the Kickstarter program helped Better World International, the non-profit developer of The Good Cards project, develop a successful pilot program in US schools. The Good Cards Schools’ program, designed to create the “kindness leaders of tomorrow,” plans to expand to 50 US schools in September.
“The Kickstarter program was our first attempt at fund raising,” said Corey Harnish, CEO of Better World International. “The amount of money we raised can hardly compare to the amount of knowledge we gained by being involved in the Kickstarter process. We are delighted to have delivered on our commitment to donors and are grateful to each one of them for their faith in us.”
Kickstarter donors received cool “Dreamer” glasses, Happiness Mission cards, and a very special Mission wristband, all in a beautifully packaged box. Upon opening the box, supporters found themselves joining the Better World International team of “Dreamers” and materials to begin their own set of Happiness Missions. The Kickstarter deliverables can now be obtained directly from The Good Cards website (for a donation): https://www.thegoodcards.com/ .
The Good Cards Schools’ Program, piloted this Spring with Gorzycki Middle School and Technology teacher, Jon Howard, was organized with the school’s PAL program, which has a mission to prepare and enable students to use their leadership, academic knowledge, and critical thinking skills to address school-based needs. The PAL program students used The Good Cards for their Kindness Project “Share Your Heart,” in the spirit of Good Deeds Day on April 15, 2018.
The Good Cards Schools’ Program plans to expand to 50 middle and high schools this Fall. Organized both in student clubs and in the classroom, depending on the school, The Good Cards offers each student a dynamic journey of getting out there and doing good, and then following their impact online as they see the ripple effect of each good deed. The Good Cards travel around the world and connect people who are committed to making a difference, one kind act at a time.
“We are excited about the momentum of The Good Cards project and how the cards are being used to motivate and empower young people,” Harnish said. “The ‘Kindness Leaders of Tomorrow’ are in our schools today. The Good Cards provides a fun and meaningful experience that will inspire a chain reaction of kindness that will touch many lives around the world.”
