Support The Parative Project Working for Human Trafficking Victims

The Parative Project is working to eradicate human trafficking and help the victims by making T-shirts and other fashion items. They are raising money on Kickstarter. Recently I caught up with Drew Oxley to learn more about the effort; here’s what he told me:

What is the social benefit you hope to achieve with or through your crowdfunding campaign?

The Parative Project is a social enterprise whose merchandise and apparel aims to spark conversations around human trafficking and spread messages of hope and inspiration. If our Kickstarter is successfully funded, we will move production of our t-shirts, bags and flags to India, in partnership with The Aruna Project and Freeset, providing much-needed employment opportunities to women and girls who have been empowered out of human trafficking.

How much money are you hoping to raise and why? How much have you raised so far?

We are hoping to raise $20,000. The money will be used to take production of our merchandise over to India to provide jobs to women who have been empowered out of the human trafficking system. Additionally, we’ll use the funds to spread the word about The Parative Project to more people, sparking more conversation about human trafficking nationally, connecting people here in the US with those women in South Asia, and driving more orders, which will provide more work to those women.

Whom are you trying to help with your project and why?

We are on a mission to spark conversation about human trafficking on a global scale. There are upwards of 21 million people across the world currently being trafficked. With the success of this Kickstarter, The Parative Project will become an agent of change and empowerment, providing messages of home and inspiration along with sustainable employment to women who have been empowered out of the system. Research and experience have shown that steady employment provides a safe and secure environment for those women to build new lives, regain dignity in their communities and begin a journey toward healing and wholeness, preventing them from falling back into a system they were recently empowered to leave.

What rewards, if any, are you offering to your supporters?

We are offering a variety of rewards at different support levels. Some rewards include greeting cards, t-shirts, flags, tote bags, an Instagram takeover and a trip to India to see the impact The Parative Project, along with Freeset and The Aruna Project, have made in the community.
