See the Great Companies We're Considering at the November Impact Cherub Club Meeting
Superpowers for Good should not be considered investment advice. You should seek appropriate counsel before making investment decisions. When you purchase an item, launch a campaign or create an investment account after clicking a link here, we may earn a fee. Engage to support our work.
As we gear up for the 1:30 PM Eastern, November 18, meeting of the Impact Cherub Club, we invite you to join us. The club meets to review impact investments that everyone is eligible to make and that virtually anyone can afford. We share responsibility for completing basic due diligence before making investments. While members are encouraged to invest in the Club’s picks, no one is required to invest.
The Club is open to all “Impact Members” of the SuperCrowd (our paying subscribers). I don’t touch the money members invest. They do so directly for their own accounts. We benefit from new members by the fresh perspectives they bring and our growing social impact. Please join us!
Next Meeting—November 18, at 1:30 PM Eastern
At our next meeting on November 18, at 1:30 PM Eastern/10:30 AM Pacific, consistent with our plans for future sessions, the agenda will have three items:
Diligence Reports
Post Mortem
Preliminary Consideration of New Candidate Investments
I’ll review those items in reverse order.
New Company Consideration
After some preliminary screening, I’ve shared some candidate offerings with the members of the club to choose which we’ll review this month. Members chose the following:
Gold Leaf Farming
Gold Leaf Farming LP, a regenerative tree-nut grower based in Modesto, CA, is raising up to $828,750 via Climatize to finance a 370 kW solar array at its Unicorn Road almond orchard in Bakersfield. The interest-only, 48-month construction-stage note pays 9.5% simple interest quarterly, with principal due at maturity. Proceeds fund engineering, procurement, construction, and a payment reserve account. The system will offset about 90% of farm electricity use and avoid ≈530 metric tons of CO₂ annually. The note is contractually subordinate to senior lender American Ag Credit and secured by project assets. Minimum investment: $10. Investors support clean-energy adoption in sustainable agriculture while earning fixed-income returns.
LIVSN Designs
LIVSN Designs, a B-Corp certified outdoor apparel brand based in Bentonville, Arkansas, is raising a community equity round via Wefunder under Regulation Crowdfunding. They’re offering a convertible note at a valuation cap of US$7.975 million, with a minimum investment of US$100. Key traction: over US$2 million in revenue for 2024, a 53 % compound annual growth rate since 2018, 112 US retailers, and a lifetime warranty/repair program. Funds will support product-line expansion, retail and e-commerce growth, and scaling supply chains. As with all early-stage ventures, risk is high and liquidity is limited.
Short-Fuse Offering
Each month, we spotlight a “short fuse” offering—an investment opportunity with a tight fundraising deadline, often closing within a few weeks. These offerings don’t allow for our usual two-month, two-meeting review process, which includes an initial discussion followed by a final vote. Most short-fuse deals are small business loans that offer attractive financial returns while also allowing us to support community builders, social entrepreneurs, and underrepresented founders making a meaningful impact.
Post Mortem
At each Impact Cherub Club meeting, we devote just a few minutes to reflecting on a past investment—either one that has closed its doors or successfully completed repayment of a debt or equity commitment. We revisit the information we had at the time of our decision and compare it with the actual outcome, asking ourselves what we might learn. This brief exercise sharpens our judgment, helps us spot patterns, and improves our ability to make thoughtful, impact-focused investment choices in the future.
Diligence Reports
We’ll begin with the due diligence reports from the Impact Cherub Club members who volunteered to research the companies after we briefly learned a bit about them last month. After hearing the members’ reports, we’ll vote to determine whether or not to recommend investment in the companies. The decision will be made available to all Impact Cherub Club members, including those who don’t attend this month. Register here.
Here are the companies we’ll learn more about this month:
HEVO
HEVO is developing patented wireless charging systems for electric vehicles that eliminate the need for plugs and cables, making charging as easy as parking. Backed by investors like Ulu Ventures, VoLo Earth Ventures, and Dream Fund, HEVO has partnerships with Stellantis and other major automakers to integrate its technology into up to seven new EV platforms. With UL and SAE certifications, HEVO’s system delivers plug-in–level efficiency at competitive costs and is positioned for $100M+ in potential annual revenue by 2028. Founded by U.S. Army veteran Jeremy McCool, HEVO aims to become the global standard for EV wireless charging infrastructure. Learn more at Wefunder.
Pump for Joy
Pump for Joy is a women-founded startup creating disposable, biodegradable breast milk collection kits that eliminate the need to clean pump parts—making life easier for moms on the go. Founded by Erin Martin and Vanessa Parker, both working mothers and experienced entrepreneurs, the company offers patent-pending, eco-friendly kits designed for single use that fully break down in months. Their subscription-based model provides convenience and recurring revenue. Backed by Equilibrium Impact Ventures and recognized with grants and pitch competition wins, Pump for Joy is raising funds on a $2.25 million valuation cap to finalize prototypes, prepare for FDA approval, and launch pilot testing.
