Save Money and History by Donating to Presonomics
ATLANTA (Dec. 2, 2014) – Presonomics, Inc., a national nonprofit, is pleased to announce the launch of a crowdfunding campaign to enrich communities throughout the world with the construction of a free, online repository of all extant publications related to the social and economic benefits of saving historic places.
“We want you to know that old buildings can be major moneymakers for your community,” said Presonomics founder and executive director Clint Tankersley. “And since those in power are more easily persuaded by data-driven studies, Presonomics will compile all publications about preservation economics and put them online for easy access. We believe that this will be an invaluable resource for governments and nonprofits everywhere as they struggle to save historic places.”
Donations for this powerful new tool, called the Presonomics Open Access Repository, or POAR, will arm activists with the data to help them save historic places.
As shown in the nonprofit’s promotional video, historic communities like East Point, Georgia are in dire need of the services to be offered by Presonomics. Local East Point activist Stas Rusek, who is grappling with misinformed decision makers, said, “Presonomics is exactly what we need because Presonomics can help us show the city that these buildings are assets and not liabilities.”
Launched in conjunction with Giving Tuesday—the annual worldwide campaign to raise money for charities—Presonomics’ online campaign will run for 60 days and includes rewards such as personalized postcards, t-shirts, and special preview access to the pre-release version of POAR. Presonomics hopes to raise at least $10,000 to start building its digital repository and has set a stretch goal of $40,000. All donations are tax-deductible within the United States.
