Platform For Empowering The Youth Of Today And Shape The World Of Tomorrow
This is a guest post from Raluca Dewald, third-year “Communication Science” student from Romania based in Amsterdam.
Entrepreneur Cynthia English, CEO & Founder of Global Scribes Inc. (a for youth, by youth, non-profit organisation) envisioned the world as governed by love, peace, free spirit and acceptance for diversity when she developed the initiative Global Scribes: Youth Uniting Nations®. Since its launch on November 26, 2014 Global Scribes has escalated from 0 to +60 countries around the world with no formal marketing and managed to touch the lives of over 2000 youth across the globe by providing them a network with so far 17 unique topic-centered teams through which they continuously connect, create and collaborate with their global peers.
I was introduced to Global Scribes through a true humanitarian and global nomad Stine Philipsen, the Associate Global Director with whom I had a discussion surrounding children’s welfare, multiculturalism, and the education system. We both agreed on the importance of cultivating youth values such as humanity and compassion (especially for people from different socio-demographic sectors or cultures) and opening up for opportunities to make use of their creativity and show it to the world, embracing their unique qualities. This is why Global Scribes exists in the first place: youth around the world between the ages of 8 to 25 can become a part of the platform individually or through their school or another organization. After that, they can connect through the beauty of the written word sparked by the monthly GS Spark Word, create engaging videos or films showing the world their talents or the different culture that they come from and turn their ideas into action by becoming part of one of the interactive GS teams (Animation, Art and Illustration, Entrepreneurship, Science and Nature, Film and Video, Tech etc.).
Global Scribes aims to continuously foster innovation, creativity, global friendships, cultural knowledge, and personal recognition while mitigating the effects of empirical demonizing due to lack of attention, self-esteem or education. This is why they want to build the private platform Scribers World, where Scribers can engage more easily in a safe environment and enjoy some of the (educational) surprise features that the Global Scribes team has prepared for them. Their goal is to raise $600,000 to build Scribers World by November 27 as part of their Giving Tuesday campaign and help youth worldwide access an incredible community of peers where healthy, culturally-enriching relationships are fostered and an environment free from politics, religion, and socio-demographic segregation is provided. This is to ensure rigid cyber-security and child protection measures, reward/award attributes recognizing personal contributions & achievements, integrated programs such as GS Mentors and GS English Tutors, and much more. “Global Scribes broadens my knowledge about the world by giving chances to meet people from different nations” states Chaeun Moon, young Scriber from South Korea. “Global Scribes unites children around the world with no consideration other than their uniqueness as individuals” explains Susan Beer, Board Member from Bedford, New York.
Ultimately, the goal of Global Scribes: Youth Uniting Nations® is to contribute to world peace and reach over 5 million diverse youth, representing every country of the world. Now their focus is to offer their so geographically dispersed engaged youth the gift they have always dreamed of– new and better possibilities for interaction, learning, creation, and collaboration through Scribers World.
