Paul: What I am good at, I guess, is reflecting those who really do the work... My superpower is the bridge between the people on the ground who aren’t thinking about how to do marketing or to get people to act... I bring their stories and I tell their narratives and I help them go to a much wider audience who then support them.
Anxiety is overcome by action. Across the country, tens of millions of independent voters, moderate Democrats and moderate Republicans feel completely overwhelmed by political drift and the sheer volume of choices available. That flood of options causes a form of paralysis where people want to do something to protect democracy, but simply do not know where to start.
When I sat down with my guest Paul Katz—Chair and CEO of Entertain Impact Advocacy Alliance, multi-Grammy-nominated producer, author and social impact entrepreneur—he outlined a remarkably simple path to turn that passive concern into meaningful civic participation.
Through his initiative, Commit Together, Paul is providing an easy on-ramp for anyone who wants to take a first step, whether they have ten minutes or five hours to spare. “Anxiety is overcome by action. Doesn’t matter how small it is or, you know, just a little step. But we agree that democracy is a good thing that we want to keep for our kids.”
He further emphasized that taking that initial step transforms how we experience public life:
“Just by taking the first step, your anxiety kind of flows away from you, and then you feel a little bit more empowered. And what happens there is you find community.”

How to Develop Bridge As a Superpower
Paul’s superpower is acting as a bridge between frontline changemakers and the broader public. As Paul explained, “what I am good at, I guess, is reflecting those who really do the work... My superpower is the bridge between the people on the ground who aren’t thinking about how to do marketing or to get people to act... To demonstrate how he uses his superpower as a bridge, Paul described an initiative aimed at increasing voter participation among the Black faith-based community in Georgia. Rather than relying solely on high-profile figures like Kerry Washington and Common, Paul bridged directly into local communities across 105 counties. By connecting with trusted local leaders—such as local barbers and ministers—he enabled communities to mobilize internally. This grassroots bridge successfully mobilized thousands of individuals to participate in the democratic process who otherwise might not have voted.
