Press Release – NEW YORK (November 26, 2018) — This holiday season, the Christian humanitarian organization World Vision is inviting Christmas shoppers to catch the spirit of generosity at a unique interactive pop-up shop inside Bryant Park’s iconic Winter Village. The Give-back Gift Shop (open November 25 -27, 11 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.) gives visitors a chance to experience World Vision’s life-changing work firsthand and learn how they can delight loved ones with a unique gift that will light up the life of a child in need.
What can you do at the Give-back Gift Shop?
Families will see, touch, and experience how one act of generosity can light up an entire community and ignite generosity and kindness among their own family and friends. Proceeds from the shop will go to World Vision’s programs around the world and right here in the United States. Through the combined efforts of World Vision and the support of donors: every 60 seconds a family gets water, a hungry child is fed, and a family receives the tools to overcome poverty. All the charitable gifts featured at the shop also appear online at www.worldvision.org.
At the shop, holiday shoppers will get the chance to:
Snap a selfie with a goat, alpaca or dozens of other live farm animals and learn how these animals transform communities.
Use a working water pump and experience what it’s like for a child who walks an average of 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) a day to collect water.
Snuggle up inside a huge Mongolian Ger and feel how these homes protect families from temperatures below -40 degrees.
Build a Hope Kit for U.S. women escaping abuse, poverty, trafficking or addiction.
Take a virtual tour to a village in Africa to learn how sponsorship can help change a child’s life.
#ShineBright by committing to pray for a message of hope to better the world collected from people across America and displayed on World Vision’s Give-back Tree.
The Give-back Gift Shop is part of the organization’s #ShineBright movement, an effort to unite people through the power of hope this holiday season. Messages of hope collected on social media from across America will be displayed at the Shop for visitors to read and pray over.
