Project: Our project will help victimized mothers, primary caregivers, and children affected by the armed conflict in Colombia through mental health intervention.
Use of funds: The funds raised will be used to implement the Semillas de Apego mental health program in Tumaco, Colombia. It is a 15 week curriculum which provides tools that victimized mothers and primary caregivers need to process their own trauma. Then, the program focuses on allowing a proper understanding of the child’s development trajectories and how they are silently being affected by the experience of adversities. Finally, the curriculum works towards fostering child-rearing good practices. Together, Semillas de Apego aims to foster the healthy child-parent attachments that promote appropriate emotional development.
Anecdote: The Colombian people have suffered decades of violence, and displacement. The Semillas de Apego program is the only program in place that works specifically with the victimized caretakers and children.
