Learn Why the LGBTQ Needed And Now Has Its Own Crowdfunding Platform
Rachel Blank and her wife saw a need for the LGBTQ community to have its own crowdfunding platform so they created PridePocket.
If you aren’t a member of the community, you may not understand why this is necessary. With many trans-related medical treatments and procedures treated by health insurance companies as elective, they are frequently not covered. The LGBTQ+ community can come together to help shoulder these costs.

What is the purpose of your crowdfunding campaign?
Our platform is ALMOST launched and we will be using our own platform to accept donations. The money will be used to help us build out features that would benefit the LGBTQ+ community and allow us to stay afloat long enough to be self-sustaining. Our platform was built with the needs of others in mind above everything else. The goal is to provide people with factual articles about LGBTQ+ specific topics (not news or gossip, but rather how to’s and scenarios Additionally, we give those individuals a means to raise funds safely, privately, and allow them to keep it all with our crowdfunding platform!

At its most fundamental, Pride Pocket is a one-stop-shop for community, resources, and material support for the queer community. I often think of it as the virtual mentor most of us never had/have- – someone you can ask all of your questions, no matter how sensitive, someone to rely on when you need help getting on your feet, someone with other cool queer friends they can introduce you to. We feel passionately that LQBTQ+ people at every stage of their journey should have a place to turn for help, answers, and access to the beauty of our wider family in the world. Our crowdfunding platform is one of a kind as was built with the needs of the queer community in mind. It is free to use, charges NO platform fees, passes the transaction fee to the donator, and allows for COMPLETELY private, invite-only campaigns. In other words, if you are in need of funds, you can safely share your campaign publicly or with just your closest friends and family and keep every penny donated.
