How to Use AI to Draft a Business Plan in 30 Minutes
Use Our Tool to Help You Create Documents to Help You Raise Capital
One of the great challenges of raising capital under Regulation Crowdfunding is creating the documents required. A good business plan is a centerpiece for these disclosures. I’ve created a simple tool to help you draft a business plan in half an hour.
Over the past several months, I’ve been using prompts like those I’ve set up in this tool. In my experience, it has radically accelerated the process of writing a business plan.
When you use the tool, you’re prompted for information that you can complete in about five minutes. In under one minute, you’ll receive an email containing prompts and instructions for using them to generate first a business plan outline and then the full text.
Below, you can see the outline ChatGPT generated from the prompt for a purely fictitious business, including the fictional CEO, Davina Dayton. Using an additional prompt and the outline you can see below, I used the generative AI engine to create a 12-page business plan you can see here.
I also asked ChatGPT 4 with DALLE to generate the logo above. It demonstrates well how generative AI works—and doesn’t. The logo is brilliant at first glance, but the text that should read Kumquat doesn’t. The business plans generated by AI represent a brilliant and easy first step, but you need to scrutinize every word. If you use it, you own it—silly mistakes and all. If you use it to raise capital, you could create real liability. Seek legal counsel first.
As you read the outline below, look for the things you would change about the outline if this were your business. At every step of your process for generating a business plan with help from AI, be sure to scrutinize the output to ensure you completely understand and agree with the text it generates.
Most people find it easier to edit text than to write it. By getting a draft from AI, you accelerate the drafting step and move quickly to editing, polishing and publishing.
When I generated the business plan, the financial section described in detail a financial model that doesn’t exist. It would be legally dangerous and just plain stupid to use a business plan that describes a financial model that doesn’t exist. Take care. Go step by step with caution.
What follows below was generated by the first prompt generated by the tool I created for you to test.
