Help with Hope Celebrates #GivingTuesday and Pledges to Support more Kids whose Parent has Cancer
Press Release – Los Angeles – November 2019 – This #GivingTuesday, November 27th, Help with Hope will celebrate giving by raising $10,000 which is 330 care packages for kids whose parent has cancer.
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, this year’s #GivingTuesday will take place on November 27th and will kick off the giving season by inspiring people to collaborate and give back.
Historically, most cancer charities have focused on supporting the actual cancer patient – which is a necessary endeavor. However, there are millions of children that quietly suffer as the family dedicates time and resources to confront this tragic situation. A cancer diagnosis can be draining on a family. Help with Hope is here to foster a dialogue that can address the psychosocial aspects of having a parent with cancer. #GivingTuesday provides Help with Hope an opportunity to get the word out and raise enough money to support more kids who is coping with a parent with cancer.
I need to thank you for the amazing care packages. They really helped open-up the dialogue about support and questions regarding “cancer”. My son (age 12) hasn’t put the care package down since I gave it to him. He even slept with it. The care package has helped make the “hardest conversation” with my boys a little easier. Thank you.”
Founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y – a community and cultural center in New York City − #GivingTuesday inspired millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe in. Over $300 million was raised online to benefit a tremendously broad range of organizations, and much more was given in volunteer hours, donations of food and clothing, and acts of kindness.
