GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Centers Celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month with The Generation G-One Million Voices! Promise Campaign
Press Release – Layton, UT., September 25, 2018 – We can all help and it’s time To TAKE A STAND! Do not allow another person to be bullied, degraded or made to feel inferior!
Just this week another celebrity attacked kids specifically with Down syndrome AGAIN! Instead of attacking him and his fan base (getting him publicity!) we are going to rise above and go #GenerationG! With the support of one million people we can begin to stop these viscous attacks on innocent children who are only guilty of wearing their diagnosis on their face. We must protect the people who need us the most!
GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Centers is launching the Generation G-One Million Voices! Promise Campaign. In 30 days we need one million people to Promise and post that they will be generous, kind and accepting. This movement goes far beyond Down syndrome and simply ask people to Promise kindness and acceptance to ALL. It is simple! Corporations, schools, and the like can all get involved and show that we are all better than what the world is looking like today.
Visit https://gigisplayhouse.org/generationg to take the Promise! Then put a heart on your hand with a G in the middle, take a selfie with it and post on social media with the hashtag #GenerationG and challenge your friends to do the same! That is it. The world will now know you are a better person with your commitment to being kind and accepting and hopefully you can spread that love and challenge your friends to do the same!
The Generation G-One Million Voices! Promise Campaign aims to break down barriers by encouraging individuals to make a conscious decision to be better every day by Pledging to Be Accepting. Be Generous. Be Kind. Generation G challenges the status quo by encouraging people to step outside of comfort zones and actively seek out actions that create lasting acceptance.
The Generation G-One Million Voices! Promise campaign is part of October’s Down Syndrome Awareness Month, a national campaign to increase acceptance for those living with Down syndrome and their families. Did you know Down syndrome is the most common yet least funded chromosomal disability in the United States? Despite 450,000 Americans currently living with Down syndrome, funding is low and there are way too many barriers to acceptance.
Nancy Gianni, Chief Belief Officer, takes the Promise for the over 2 million people living with and touched by Down syndrome and her 16-year-old daughter GiGi, a self-advocate and community leader.
“With the support of one million people we can begin to stop these viscous attacks that imply it is OK to harass the innocent children with Down syndrome who already have it hard enough in this world! GiGi doesn’t get a break from her diagnosis; no one does. People who are different don’t get to shed that “differentness” at the end of the day. They struggle constantly for acceptance, and that is why we’ll never stop fighting for them. Make the Promise and join the thousands of individuals living Generation G! It is so simple! Make the Promise and post!”
