If you rent, you probably can’t install an EV charger — and in California, that shuts millions of people out of electric driving. This week’s featured Social Impact offering is building chargers for renters, and you can back it from $10. Here are this week’s featured offerings, with every other new offering listed below.
This week’s featured offerings
Social Impact — EV Charging for Renters: EV chargers for California renters, bridged to a state grant · Climatize
Women in Leadership — Ripe!: a Black List-honored feature film, executive produced by Kelley O’Hara · Wefunder
Underrepresented Founder Leadership — Call4USA: affordable calling and money transfers for the U.S. Hispanic community · Wefunder
Social Impact Offering of the Week: EV Charging for Renters
Portal: Climatize · Developer: Moon Five, led by CEO Stephan Ng with Marco Sotela, Lionel Church and Chase Estrin
About the project: Millions of Californians who rent can’t charge an EV because their building has nowhere to plug in. Berkeley-based Moon Five designs and installs EV charging that can be up in weeks and works for both renters and property owners. This raise bridges a California Energy Commission REACH 3.0 grant: investors fund chargers up front, and the grant reimburses the costs once the ports are installed and inspected.
The offering: a 2-year, interest-only note paying 10.1% a year quarterly, with a $10 minimum. The goal is $415,000, up to $500,000.
Women in Leadership Offering of the Week: Ripe!
Portal: Wefunder · Filmmakers: writer-directors Olivia Mitchell and Kerry Furrh (Tusk), with executive producer Kelley O’Hara
About the project: Ripe! is a feature film about young queer love set on the soccer fields of rural Spain, adapted from the filmmakers’ Tribeca-winning short. Its script made the 2024 Black List, and the cast includes Lola Tung, Sandra Oh and Rita Roca. Executive producer Kelley O’Hara is a two-time World Cup champion, Olympic gold medalist and pay-equity advocate. The team is opening film finance to the community for the first time.
The offering: a revenue share with a $100 minimum. Investors are repaid 120% of principal and share in 33.3% of net proceeds. The film’s net budget is $2 million; the Wefunder goal is $500,000.
Underrepresented Founder Leadership Offering of the Week: Call4USA
Portal: Wefunder · Leadership: Philip J. Chasmar (President and CEO), Dion Whitman (CFO) and Dr. Francisco Valle (CMO)
About the company: Call4USA combines affordable international calling and money transfers in one mobile platform for the U.S. Hispanic community — including people without a bank account or credit card. It holds two issued patents, with two more in development. Founders, friends and family have invested $3.2 million in development; the company is pre-revenue but market-ready, with distribution, manufacturing and a bilingual marketing plan in place.
The offering: a revenue share loan secured by company assets, with a $100 minimum. Investors receive 2% of revenue until repaid 4× their principal, or 5× for the first $150,000 invested. Open to existing investors first until November 2 at 9:00 AM ET.
