Crowdfunding for St. Jude Children’s Hospital
A family recently approached me with the story of their son, grandson and nephew Israel who had been treated at St. Jude Children’s Hospital and their effort, steeped in gratitude, to raise some money for the hospital.
In order to learn more, I connected with grandpa John Swartz, speaking on behalf of Israel’s mother, Heidi Casson and Amy Wells, Israel’s aunt. Here’s the story they shared:
What is the social benefit you hope to achieve with or through your crowdfunding campaign?
Our goal is helping St Jude Children’s Research Hospital raise funds for fighting childhood cancer. Our son, nephew and grandson has gone through two surgeries for brain cancer. Israel is 3 years old and lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He visited St Jude in Memphis, TN for evaluation on his second cancer discovery. After their evaluation they felt he was receiving excellent care and treatment at Salt Lake City’s Primary Children’s Medical Center.
They felt for his benefit it was better to stay close to home. They conferred with the doctor’s at Primary Children’s Medical Center for Israel’s treatments.
We are very thankful for their counsel and advice during Israel’s chemotherapy and radiation.
St Jude gives hope to parents and families of sick children.
With help of donations no family pays for anything while their children are treated at St Jude.
St Jude’s research advances are commicated to children’s doctors and hospitals around the world.
We appreciate St Jude’s efforts and ask for donations to help continue their great work.
How much money are you hoping to raise and why? How much have you raised so far?
We are participating in Tampa, Florida’s St Jude Give Thanks Walk on November 22.
Our goal this year is $1200.00. We have raising $565.00 to date with 65 days to go.
The donations will go directly to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
