Complete a Puzzle to Help Fight World Hunger this Holiday Season
Rise Against Hunger taps into gamification trend to help feed people in great need
Press Release – Raleigh, N.C. – Nov. 28, 2017 – Rise Against Hunger is providing an innovative way for consumers to give back and have a hands-on impact on ending world hunger this holiday season by completing an interactive puzzle at 2030ispossible.org, and simply sharing it on their social media profiles. For every completed puzzle that is shared, Rise Against Hunger will donate six highly nutritious meals to families in need all across the globe.
“Ending hunger can seem ‘puzzling,’ but this season, Rise Against Hunger is using the gamification of giving to make it as easy as completing a puzzle,” said Tom Barbitta, Chief Marketing Officer. “We created our puzzle to make it possible for anyone to give the gift of food—something everyone around the globe deserves.”
Hunger affects over 800 million people worldwide, equaling about 11 percent of the entire population, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. With this in mind, Rise Against Hunger is encouraging consumers to give the gift of a meal this holiday season to support its mission of eradicating worldwide hunger by 2030.
Contributions and donations enable Rise Against Hunger to increase its shipment of meals to developing countries and provide educational and sustainable environmental initiatives for those in need around the world. Other ways to get involved include:
Make a monetary donation to Rise Against Hunger online.
Participate in one of the meal packaging events that are held in various markets across the United States. Rise Against Hunger has facilitated the packaging and distribution of over 360 million meals to 74 countries in need.
Consumers doing their holiday shopping on Amazon can also fund Rise Against Hunger’s efforts through Amazon Smile, an initiative that allows users to donate 5 percent of their purchase back to an organization of their choice.
“Supporting Rise Against Hunger not only helps us provide meals, but also the education and tools necessary for communities to become sustainable and prosperous for years to come,” said Barbitta. “The impact these meals have on our beneficiaries doesn’t just last through the holiday season, it lasts a lifetime.”
Last year, Rise Against Hunger engaged more than 376,000 volunteers to join the global movement to end hunger. Supporting Rise Against Hunger will help lift communities around the globe, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future.
