The stock market represents the value of ownership in a corporation called shares of stock that trade primarily on two exchanges, the Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange. A share of stock is a bit of ownership. So, if you own one share of Tesla stock, you can say that just like its famous founder, you “own Tesla.”
