Award-Winning NGO Developing Ground-Breaking Initiative On Young Women’s Wellbeing And Global Development
Press Release – Footage Foundation (Footage) is developing “StrengthIN,” the world’s first evidence-based initiative focused specifically on sustainable development and the mental, social, and emotional wellbeing of vulnerable young women across 10 countries. The campaign, StrengthIN: Where wellbeing meets global transformation launched this week and seeks investment in this ground-breaking initiative.
StrengthIN offers a more human and holistic blueprint for sustainable development, taking into account overlooked basic needs such as self-worth and connection, and the impact personal transformation has on the wider world. Additionally, Footage will use its award-winning Theory of Change, guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, to collate urgently needed real-time data and study the connection between individual and global transformation.
Executive Director and Co-Founder of Footage Foundation, Dr. Kristen Ali Eglinton, said the initiative will target the rarely explored space between development initiatives and impact research.
“Our goal is a paradigm shift in humanitarian aid, as we provide rich data tracking the ripple effect of young women’s wellbeing within the global development sphere—how self-worth, compassion, and connection impact development indicators, such as income and education,” Dr Eglinton said.
Footage uses a unique narrative and media arts methodology that enables peer leadership and technology to build scalable digital and face-to-face programs for the world’s young women.
“Our tested methodology works to break cycles of shame and build self-worth through young women’s compassionate action and connection. This is important, because when we break cycles of shame, young women can maximize their individual potential and positively impact their communities,” Dr. Eglinton said.
Through the initiative, Footage expects to build upon its wide coalition of global partners, including local NGOs, large international organizations, select UN agencies, experts in social and behavioral sciences and technology, and young women themselves, all of whom would benefit from this rich source of data.
A series of awareness and fundraising events will be held in New York City, including at WeWork’s Made By We “Wellness Wednesdays” on June 5th at 2:30pm EST, Yoga in Central Park on June 9th at 2pm EST, and in London later in June.
