American Marketing Association Joins Global #GivingTuesday, Encouraging Support for Student Marketers Making a Difference
The American Marketing Association (AMA) and the American Marketing Association Foundation (AMAF) kick off the launch of #GivingTuesday to help raise money for AMA’s Collegiate Scholarship programs.
Press Release – CHICAGO (PRWEB) NOVEMBER 11, 2016: The American Marketing Association (AMA) and the American Marketing Association Foundation (AMAF) are kicking off the holiday giving season with the launch of #GivingTuesday to help raise money for AMA’s Collegiate Scholarship programs.
#GivingTuesday is a global day dedicated to using the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on November 29, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The worldwide movement harnesses the power of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change in their communities and celebrates the power of giving in all forms.
“The American Marketing Association is proud to join the #GivingTuesday movement to raise funds for AMA’s Collegiate Scholarship programs,” said Russ Klein, CEO of the American Marketing Association. “We have committed to awarding two Social Impact and two Diversity Leadership Scholarships to help provide four AMA student leaders with opportunities to gain the experience they need to impact the world now and in the future. All contributions given on #GivingTuesday will help support these scholarship programs.”
The Social Impact Scholarship awards two students who have successfully made a positive impact within their local, regional or larger community. The Diversity Leadership Scholarship awards two students who have demonstrated AMA-zing leadership as part of their chapter activities or in other areas, and who are a member of the African-American, Indian American (Native), Pacific Islander or Hispanic American communities. Qualified students can learn more on the student resource channel at ama.org. Submissions for the both scholarship programs are due February 8, 2017.
“The AMA Collegiate Scholarships offer a broad spectrum of talented marketing students an opportunity to distinguish themselves in their careers while making a positive change in the industry,” said Klein. “A donation today will help to make the scholarships a reality for four exceptional marketing students.”
