Access Collective Brings Science Literacy To Life In Adventure Exploration Series, Access Chile

Press Release – January 10, 2019 – Adventure-based content creator Access Collective has announced its first episodic series in adventure-based science learning with Access Chile, the three-month, real-time journey of physicist and mountaineer Eylene Pirez as she explores Chile’s most harsh and beautiful natural environments.

Through the series, viewers will join Eylene as she journeys through the Atacama Desert and Patagonia, summiting three of South America’s highest peaks, trekking through the driest desert on earth, and encountering a glacial environment currently melting at a non-glacial speed. The series is set to begin airing in spring 2019.

“Access Chile brings science out of the lab and into the public, presenting the subject as a lifestyle and showcasing real world examples of how the issues we face today can be observed, understood and addressed,” said Eylene Pirez. “Very few places on Earth are tied to as many scientific questions as the ecosystems we explore in this series, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to share my experience with our viewers.”

Cuban-American physicist, photographer, mountaineer and adventurer Eylene Pirez has dedicated the last 14 years of her career to some of the science world’s most significant research projects. Eylene’s expertise has been applied to NASA’s Cassini spacecraft, dark matter experiments, and particle accelerator technologies for state-of-the art applications in several areas of science research. Eylene resides in Los Angeles.

For most of her journey, Eylene will be traveling alongside National Geographic explorer Ben Horton. Ben is a photographer and writer, and founder of Access Collective. Ben’s explorations have been documented extensively in National Geographic, earning him various grants as an official explorer in the publication’s prestigious Society of Explorers.Ben is currently host of National Geographic’s Extreme China, a docu-series in which he teams up with Chinese adventurers to journey into extreme landscapes in search of some of the country’s most unique remote communities.

Access Collective was established as a result of Ben’s vision to create content with purpose and passion through funding from brands that can also utilize the visual assets they capture. As its first episodic series, Access Chile is the perfect example of how the company is able to produce inspiring, educational adventure content that is subsidized by the advertising assets it is simultaneously creating along the way.

Though production for Access Chile began in December 2018, funding for future episodes is still underway.
